Ethical Hacking vs Non Ethical hacking

Introduction

What is the difference between ethical hacking and nonethical hacking? Ethical hacking is the good side of hacking. While nonethical hacking is the wrong side. There is also another type of hacker called a gray hacker. They do both ethical and non-ethical hacking. They all have different roles in the hacking industry. That is why this blog will help you understand the difference between ethical and non-ethical hacking.

Ethical Hacking

Ethical or “white hat” hacking develops security systems for businesses and organizations to prevent threats and breaches. These security systems apply to computer systems, networks, and applications. They identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities in a security system and fix them. They are often hired by organizations or as an independent consultant. They have permission to access organizations and business systems as long as they do it legally and responsibly. White hat hackers find vulnerabilities by using special applications and skills without causing trouble. Then they will report it to the organization. Finally, if needed they will fix their security systems. On average white hat hackers make $60,000 a year. Independent consultants have the opportunity to make double that. White hat hackers are able to hack without the threat of getting in trouble.

Nonethical Hacking

Nonethical or “black hat” hackers are the opposite. They decide to hack into security systems unauthorized and illegally. These hackers can hack anywhere in the world making them harder to find. Black hats profit off of information which then can be used to steal money, sell information, and use it for their own benefit. This is illegal but it provides them with substantial quick money. Black hat hackers can be hired by criminal organizations or they may be independent. Black hat hackers can use phishing, malware, etc. to penetrate systems and gain access to information and files. Black hat hackers do harmful things for financial gain and increase the chance of going to jail.

Grey Hat Hackers

Gray hat hackers are in between white and black hat hackers. A white hat asks for permission to hack. A black hat hacks illegally and provides harm. Grey hats don’t ask for permission or hack to cause harm. Grey hats hack websites and organizations illegally but don’t cause harm yet. They then approach the system administrator, show them the issue, and ask for a fee for one of their employees to fix it. If they don’t comply the grey hat hacker will become a black hat and destroy their systems until they do comply. Almost similar to ransomware where they lock your files for payment if you do not pay they will sell your information until you do pay. Gray hat hackers can be both ethical and non-ethical.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Ethical hacking improves security systems for organizations and websites as long as they have permission. They don’t get paid as much compared to black hats but don’t have the risk of getting arrested. Nonethical hacking causes harm to organizations and websites for illegal substantial financial gain. Gray hat hackers are both ethical and nonethical if you comply with them they won’t bother you. if you don’t well you are going to have problems.
